Well I didn’t see this coming. Who would’ve thought BEVERLY HELLBILLYS wouldn’t catch on? Silly. Obviously I’m talking about the 2001 MANIACS sequel and yes… I’m talking about a title change for the film.
2001 MANIACS 2 writer/director Tim Sullivan dropped word to the guys over at ShockTillYouDrop that the new title for the film is 2001 MANIACS: FIELD OF SCREAMS. Well that works. You guys think there’s any real point to this change? Were you already attached to BEVERLY HELLBILLYS. Yeah well me too…
I’m kidding. According to Mr. Sullivan: “…I promise this is it. The sequel to 2001 Manaics is called Field of Screams. And being that the Maniacs set up their traveling sideshow in the same Iowan cornfield where Kevin Costner built his baseball field, it really is appropriate. Bill Moseley suggested the tagline ‘If they kill you, they will come…’ Nice to know I’m not the only sick bastard along for this ride!”
Nice. Well that fits just fine then! STYD also scored a look at three new stills from the film. Just click that shot above to check those out.
Here’s the synopsis for FIELD OF SCREAMS: After the sheriff refuses to cover up any further for the maniacs causing all the missing persons in the area, they’re forced to hit the road in what’s dubbed the “Pleasant Valley Traveling Road Show,” where the maniacs head across country in hopes of gathering more victims. We’ll follow a young TV crew called the “Road Rascals” as they find themselves mixed up with another one of the maniacs’ deadly festivals. It stars Bill Moseley, Lin Shaye, Christa Campbell (below), Tony Todd, Courtney Peldon, Giuseppe Andrews, Talan Torriero, Noel Gugliemi, and Ashley Peldon. Hopefully word on some sort of release will come soon so be sure to keep it here for updates.
