Mark Ruffalo says Marvel “now considering” a solo Hulk film after Avengers 2

If there was any movie that fans clamored for more after THE AVENGERS than a solo film for the Hulk, I don’t know what it is. But, here we are almost all of the way through Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe release slate and the only upcoming appearance for the big guy is AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. But, according to Mark Ruffalo, that may not be the only project for long.

In an interview with Digital Spy for his musical film BEGIN AGAIN, Ruffalo said that while there is nothing in development officially at this point, not even a script or plot outline, Hulk may smash on his own soon.

“I think they are, for the first time, entertaining the idea of it. When we did THE AVENGERS it was basically ‘No!’, and now there is some consideration for it.”

Far and away, Hulk was the highlight for me in the first AVENGERS and he is supposed to have a much larger role in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, possibly with a romance involving Black Widow. Since AVENGERS, many fans have called for a WORLD WAR HULK or PLANET HULK film while Marvel head Kevin Feige has remained mum on what they could do with Bruce Banner and his alter ego. With some of the Phase Three films still unannounced, maybe there is a chance one could be a Hulk project. GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY crossover, anyone?

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON is slated to open May 1, 2015.
