Marsden in Straw Dogs

While I’ve never actually seen STRAW DOGS, I have heard of it before… and yet it still pains me to report that a big budget remake of the film is now underway. Apparently it’s quite the taunt thriller, so naturally we need to see another version of it.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, THE BOX co-star and regular X-MEN chum James Marsden has been cast as the lead (originally portrayed by Dustin Hoffman) in the remake. While I don’t hate Marsden, there’s something about that dude I just don’t like. I don’t know what it is… his boyish good looks? His “bitch” take on Cyclops? Couldn’t really tell ya… just something that I don’t like about that dude.

But that’s besides the point. The new STRAW DOGS goes a little something like this: The new version follows Los Angeles screenwriter David Sumner (Marsden), who moves with his wife to her hometown in the deep South. Once there, tensions build in their marriage and old conflicts re-emerge with the locals, leading to a violent confrontation.

I don’t know about that, but from what I can tell of the original, the “confrontation” they gloss over here is actually pretty dang hardcore. Awesome stuff… and you know what? This here motivates me to check out the original before it’s (likely) ruined by the remake.

Filming is set to begin this August… stick around for more casting updates for STRAW DOGS as we hear ’em!

Maybe it’s cause of shit like this that I don’t like the guy.
