Martin Scorsese’s newly edited The Wolf of Wall Street will hit theaters Christmas Day

Looks like Uncle Marty made it happen! After being presented with the options to push THE WOLF OF WALL STREET to next year and out of the Oscar race or trim the three plus hour film, Martin Scorsese has found a way to get the running time of his film down to a manageable length and will slide into the December 25th release slot vacated by Kenneth Branagh‘s JACK RYAN: SHADOW RECRUIT.

The Leonardo DiCaprio movie looked like a surefire contender for awards season. Moving it into January or later next year would surely have lessened the changes of a nomination in 2015, but would anyone really overlook a Martin Scorsese movie even if it were released off-season? I highly doubt it. Other rumors had Alex Maidy
