Marvel’s Blade will hit HBO Max on January 1st

I hope you're sitting down because a sweet announcement has emerged from the nothingness that is this week's Tuesday news cycle.

HBO Max has announced that Marvel's Blade is going to HBO Max beginning on January 1, 2021, where it will remain throughout the month. This is bound to be welcomed news for subscribers who missed out on the Blade trilogy being on HBO Max earlier this year before it was pulled and relocated to Hulu.

Directed by Stephen Norrington and starring Wesley Snipes as the iconic Daywalker, Blade is considered among many to be a cult classic comic book film, much like Alex Proyas' The Crow, and Sam Raimi's Darkman. In Blade, Wesley Snipes stars as a half-vampire, half-mortal man who becomes a protector of the human race, while slaying evil vampires. The film also stars Stephen Dorff as Deacon Frost, who's perhaps one of the biggest douche-pires to ever grace the silver screen. Dripping with style, while also boasting a killer soundtrack, Blade is beloved by many and will always be a welcomes addition to any streaming service.

Oh, and let's not forget that Marvel Studios is in the midst of prepping a Blade reboot starring Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali in the lead role. Man, can you imagine what the Blade franchise could be with a nice new coat of MCU paint? Here's hoping that Marvel allows those in charge of the film to take some risks and push the rating as far as it can go. I'd hate to see Blade reduced to a PG-13 affair, which is likely to happen if the project doesn't end up as a part of Disney Star, the studio's streaming arm that set to host mature-rated content. I suppose only time will tell.
