Marvel Confirms Loki Theory

As reported by io9, Marvel's official website has finally confirmed an interesting fan theory about Loki. According to the site, it's possible that Thor's baby brother might not actually be seething with hatred for the god of thunder and the whole Avengers gang after all. He may just have fallen under the spell of the Scepter.

Here's the official updated bio for the master of manipulation:

"Offering the God of Mischief dominion over his brother’s favorite realm Earth, Thanos requested the Tesseract in return. Gifted with a Scepter that acted as a mind control device, Loki would be able to influence others. Unbeknownst to him, the Scepter was also influencing him, fueling his hatred over his brother Thor and the inhabitants of Earth."

Loki supposedly perished in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, but considering that he is supposed to be the protagonist of Disney's upcoming TV series, there's a pretty solid chance that he somehow survived. Odds are that loose end will be tied up in Marvel's AVENGERS: ENDGAME.

Apparently, even Loki fell prey to the power of the Mind Stone, which was situated within the Scepter that Loki used in THE AVENGERS. The Stone, which was supposed to influence others, actually also influenced Loki, causing him to morph from a mere baddie in the original THOR movie to the ultimate antagonist in Joss Whedon's 2012 entry THE AVENGERS.

It's not something that's necessarily mentioned onscreen, but considering that Marvel has made the update in their bio on their official website, it could be something that's addressed either in ENDGAME or in the upcoming Disney Loki standalone series, which will be made under the Marvel Studios banner. We'll have to wait and see, but it will be interesting to see how Loki might escape the clutches of death yet again in Marvel's AVENGERS 4 on April 26th, 2019.
