Marvel vet Stellan Skarsgard joins the cast of Disney+ Rogue One spin-off

Word has traveled among the stars from a galaxy far, far away that actors Stellan Skarsgard and Kyle Soller are poised to join Diego Luna for the upcoming Star Wars series revolving around Luna's Cassian Andor character featured in ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY.

From what we understand, both actors are still in final negotiations at this time, and Disney has yet to comment on the matter.

Set before the events of Rogue One, the untitled series is said to have "spy thriller" overtones with Luna's Alliance Intelligence officer, Cassian Andor, leading the cloak and dagger-like presentation.

Writing the pilot for the Cassian Andor project is Rogue One co-writer Tony Gilroy, who is also set to direct multiple episodes of the series. Stephen Schiff was previously announced as showrunner, with Rogue One alum Alan Tudyk returning to reprise his role as K-2SO, Andor's tech-savvy droid sidekick. Disney had previously tagged the show with a 2021 debut, though due to complications brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, there's no telling if the spin-off will arrive within that generous window.

Many wiil know Skarsgard from his role as Erik Selvic, the MCU's resident astrophysicist and hater of wearing pants. Skarsgard recently received an Emmy nomination and Golden Globe win for his part in CHERNOBYL, and can be seen in Denis Villeneuve's upcoming adaptation of Frank Herbert's DUNE.

As for Soller, you can catch him in shows the likes of POLDARK and 101 DALMATION STREET. The Cassian Andor project is being viewed by many as one of the biggest steps in his already-notable career, so here's hoping for great things.
