Hard to find a more natural beauty in Hollywood at the moment than Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who you know stars in Universal’s redo of THE THING this month. Well, while out dong press rounds for the movie, the inevitable topic of ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER was mentioned. And you know what? Mary had some pretty damn encouraging words to share about the Timur Bekmambetov yarn. Check it…
When speaking with The Playlist on her promotional tour, here’s what Winstead said about AL:VH:
“I haven’t seen any [footage], but I know they’ve been editing and I know that they’re really excited about it. I know there’s going to be a trailer out in like February, or something, so I’m really excited about that. But I wasn’t a part of most of the action stuff in that movie, which I liked that, because I kind of needed a little bit of a break [laughs]. So I’m going to be like an audience member when it comes to that stuff, because I have no idea.”
About her preparation, she added:
“Once I got there, I had to just kind of let it go and know that I knew who this person was. And I could bring up questions about maybe this would be more like something she would do, or, you know, I don’t know if this is keeping with her character, and things like that. But I also had to accept that it’s not a completely historically accurate telling of history. A lot of it is, and that’s what’s really fun about it.”
Continuing:
“So I didn’t play her like a crazy person, which is what people keep asking me…But definitely a feisty young woman, and I get to turn into this older, very strong, powerful woman who’s helping her husband fight the war against slavery – and vampires!”
Damn I love this woman! Between this, THE THING, DEATHPROOF, FINAL DESTINATION 3…Mrs. Winstead is becoming one of the finest scream queens of her generation. An A-list one at that!
ABRAHMA LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER bows June 22, 2012.
