Bittersweet news I’m afraid…
While always open to seeing the work of AMERICAN PSYCHO director Mary Harron, I think more than a fair share of us won’t be too disappointed by what follows. According to Variety, Harron’s fantasy-tinged genre flick WICKED LOVELY has been put into turnaround by Universal. Put simply, it isn’t likely to get made anytime soon.
Now, just because Universal has passed, doesn’t mean the first movie of a potential franchise won’t get made. Producers will shop this sucker around town to see who’s interested, but with an unproven commodity, possibly demanding a 5-film arc, may prove too costly to want to undertake. Especially in this economic climate. However, with TWILIGHT and HARRY POTTER coming to a close, studios may want to find the next big thing.
From the Melissa Marr skein, the first book apparently has rules:
