Matt Damon joins Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar for a small, undisclosed role

Christopher Nolan is definitely a director that tons of actors want to work with and the cast of INTERSTELLAR is populated by a bevvy of talented performers who have previously worked with him before (Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine) alongside newcomers (Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain). Now, another major star is joining the cast of the science fiction film.

According to IndieWire, Matt Damon will be joining the cast of INTERSTELLAR for a small role. Small in this case means Damon will shoot for two weeks of the overall four month shoot so his role could potentially be touted on the poster or maybe not amount to more than a scene or two.

Here’s the synopsis:

Directed and co-written by Christopher Nolan (“Inception,” “The Dark Knight” Trilogy), the production will travel the globe and utilize a mixture of 35mm anamorphic and IMAX film photography to bring to the screen a script based on the combination of an original idea by Nolan and an existing script by Jonathan Nolan, originally developed for Paramount Pictures and producer Lynda Obst. The new script chronicles the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.

INTERSTELLAR is shaping up to be, like INCEPTION, one of those movies we talk about right up to the release. Even then we may still not be certain what the movie is about. What we can be assured of from Nolan’s track record is that it will be an expertly crafted mindf*ck.

INTERSTELLAR, starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Bill Irwin, John Lithgow, Casey Affleck, David Gyasi, Wes Bentley, Topher Grace, Matt Damon and Michael Caine hits theaters on November 7th, 2014.
