In April it was announced that director Matt Reeves would follow his iniquitously overlooked LET ME IN with another vampire yarn called THE PASSAGE. Well, it looks like Reeves and Fox 2000 have settled on a scribe to retool John Logan’s original draft.
According to THR’s Heat Vision blog, Jason Keller has been assigned to adapt Justin Cronin’s vampire novel THE PASSAGE.
A relative newbie, Keller has written scripts for the yet to be released MACHINE GUN PREACHER and THE BROTHER’S GRIMM: SNOW WHITE. He also wrote that 2002 David Krumholtz vehicle BIG SHOT: CONFESSIONS OF A CAMPUS BOOKIE. I actually kind of liked that one!
In The Passage, a group of terminally ill cancer patients get healthy after being subjected to the bites of bats in South America. Naturally, the government see this as a cure for the disease and starts experimenting. They end up with a legion of nearly indestructible, telepathic vampire masters that begin infecting the populace.
