Though we’ve heard a host of names associated with Universal and Platinum Dunes’ OUIJA – including Scott Stewart, John Moore and Sylvain White – it would appear as though two new, higher profile candidates are in fact the last men standing to helm the major undertaking.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, McG (TERMINATOR SALVATION) and Breck Eisner (THE CRAZIES) are the latest to offer their pitches to Universal in the hopes of winning the job. It’s thought that the studio will want to choose a director soon so that pre-production on the flick – which has a NOVEMBER 9, 2012 release date locked – can start in earnest.
I’m just shocked that Platinum Dunes isn’t looking to cut costs by hiring another music video director… Oh, wait.
As a side note, the Reporter also alleges that TAKEN’s Pierre Morel did not impress with his presentation for OUIJA and was subsequently turned down for the job; that clashes with earlier reports that he had the luxury of choosing to direct the alien-invasion thriller EDF over OUIJA. Interesting stuff…
Of course, we’ll let you know who wins the gig when the info becomes available.
