McG gives T4 update

It’s been quite a while since we heard anything from the TERMINATOR: SALVATION camp. I think the last update was that pretty cool teaser trailer released a couple months ago. Well that changes today because McG has finally updated us all via his official blog.

It seems principal photography is done and McG is getting right into post-production. His update includes a lot on what they’re trying to do with special effects as well as tidbits on Christian Bale, Sam Worthington, and second unit director Charlie Gibson. Apparently McG has even shown an early cut of the film to Bale and Worthington and they ‘seem pleased’ with it. No idea what to take from that… but it’s unsettling. Here’s a couple other pieces of the update:

There’s one sequence in particular where we’re trying to achieve something that’s never been done before. I don’t want to talk about it because we haven’t been successful yet…

Most importantly, Christian and Sam bring power to the rolls of John Connor and Marcus Wright. This is a story of two destinies colliding. Connor is part of a resistance comprised of the ethnicities that make up the globe. This film is so much more that just Los Angeles. It reflects the global crisis of man, all of man versus machine.

To read up on the rest of the update just head right over here. Here’s the synopsis for TERMINATOR: SALVATION: After Skynet has destroyed much of humanity in a nuclear holocaust, a group of survivors led by John Connor (Bale) struggles to keep the machines from finishing the job.

McG is directing with the script coming from Jonathan Nolan and John Brancato. It stars Christian Bale, Anton Yelchin, Sam Worthington, Bryce Dallas Howard, Moon Bloodgood (below), Common, Jadagrace, Helena Bonham Carter, and Roland Kickinger. It’s set to hit theaters at the start of the Summer season next year on May 22, 2009.
