MCU roster of films to get stylish Mondo physical vinyl releases

Hey Mr. DJ, Mondo Music and Marvel Music/Hollywood Records are coming to help you get the party started, as both labels have announced that they'll be bringing the soundtracks of the MCU pantheon of films to a deck near you with a new series of physical vinyl releases. The collection will kick off with the release of Marvel's ANT-MAN AND THE WASP soundtrack, which includes collectible artwork designed by Phantom City Creative in addition to 14 previously unreleased bonus tracks. That's right, True Believers. So the next time somebody wants you to drop the needle on "Ghost in the Machine", "World's Greatest Grandma", or "It Ain't Over till the Wasp Lady Stings," not only are you prepared, you'll look good doin' it, too.

Over the last 10 years, Marvel Studios has assembled such an incredible array of composers to craft new music for their ever expanding universe of characters… some who’ve already had classic themes in past incarnations, and some who’ve never had a presence on the big screen,” Mo Shafeek, Mondo Music Record Label Manager, said in a statement. “The roster is outrageous on paper: everyone from Alan Silvestri and Michael Giacchino, to Mark Mothersbaugh and Ludwig Goransson, to, most recently, Pinar Toprak who did amazing work on Captain Marvel. We are honored to start our MCU soundtrack series with Ant-Man and The Wasp (one of our favorite superhero themes of the last few years for us was Christophe Beck’s earworm theme for Ant-Man) and cannot wait to see what comes next!”

After the release of Mondo's ANT-MAN AND THE WASP soundtrack, the label has plans to release Marvel's Oscar-nominated BLACK PANTHER soundtrack, and then THOR: RAGNAROK after that. Each release will feature stunning new artwork and uniquely-designed records that are sure to make your collection pop with personality and color.

“I had previously created a theme for the Ant-Man in the odd meter of seven which means seven beats per bar,” Beck explained to EW, who broke the news about Mondo's plans early Monday morning. “I created a theme for The Wasp which was in the odd meter of five. Most songs and scores are written in the more traditional 4/4 or 3/4 meters. But, when more beats are added to create a complex meter, it brings a dynamic, rhythmic effect to the music which fits in with the multifaceted character of these two superheroes.”

In addition to the record's gorgeous cover featuring both Paul Rudd's Ant-Man and Evangeline Lilly's Wasp (pictured above), the record set also includes a stylish rendition of Ghost (Hanna John-Kamen) in all of her manipulative and phase-shifting glory. As you can see from the images below, Mondo's version of the ANT-MAN AND THE WASP soundtrack also includes two sets of records pressed into colored wax.
