Meat Train gets R

From the title, to the story, to the first initial teaser poster, Clive Barker’s MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN has been looking pretty damn hardcore in the horror department, and for good reason: it is hardcore!

That said, I report with a happy heart that the MPAA has just slapped MEAT TRAIN with an R rating! Yes, fans of horror everywhere, it’s time to rejoice! But what’s even better than that? Check out the reasons for it’s R rating: sequences of strong bloody gruesome violence, grisly images involving nudity, sexual content and language.

Nice! It’s going to be about as f*cked up as everything we’ve seen for it suggests. I can’t wait! It’s a good thing Lionsage is distributing this beast, if it were Universal or Fox, I’m sure we’d be seeing a very toned down, PG-13 version… and that would’ve sucked.

Speaking of PG-13, it was also announced this week that CLOVERFIELD has been given the PG-13 rating for violence, terror and disturbing images. Not too surprising there, and it’s good to see that they don’t hold much back on the violence and terror side of things… at least it’s not PG-13 for nothing but bad language, or something lame like that.

To check out more rating updates, head THIS WAY, and get ready for MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN in all of it’s R rated glory in theaters May 16th.
