Last I wrote about MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN, I reported that it was going straight-to-DVD. Turned out I was semi-wrong, as it’s going straight-to-DVD in CANADA, not the U.S. (At least that was the story at the time.) Since then, it’s been given an August 1 release date, where it would have to butt heads with THE MUMMY 3. Now that plan appears to be kaput, because ShockTillYouDrop says it’s now being moved up to July 11… where it will butt heads with HELLBOY II.
In most cases I’d say a movie being moved up is a good thing, but in this case it’s clear Lionsgate doesn’t know what to do with this product. It has been bounced from May to August and now to July. None of these months is called September, or October, which would be perfect places for it to land. But Lionsgate seems intent on giving this the most perfunctory of theatrical releases before it can ship it on over to DVD. Or will it eventually be going straight there after all? Not sure, but Lionsgate is beginning to resemble Dimension in the “make up your f*cking mind!” department.
We want some Leslie Bibb!
