Meet Emmet and Wyldstyle from The Lego Movie; New trailer in three days

We've endured the LEGO brand in many animated and videogame incarnations, some more successful than others. In the past few days I've clocked in a couple hours of the LEGO Marvel game and it's a fun and inventive one that certainly builds (natch) on the concept of LEGO's being, well, LEGO's, while retaining the fun of the brand they represent. After the initial trailer and Comic Con footage for the upcoming feature from directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, it appears that the big-screen debut of our favorite brick-built chracters will be every bit as cool, thanks to a great cast and what looks like a faithful adaptation (read: literal) of the time-consuming toys. Today, in anticipation of the new trailer to be released in three days (I'm guessing Thursday or Friday, they never say exactly) we have two character peeks of Chris Pratt's Emmet and Elizabeth Banks' Wyldstyle.

Here's the synopsis:

An ordinary LEGO minifigure, mistakenly thought to be the extraordinary MasterBuilder, is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil LEGO tyrant from gluing the universe together.

Y'know, this whole thing looks like some quality tongue-in-cheek goodness from Lord and Miller, who delivered a similarly good time with 21 JUMP STREET (and hopefully with the sequel). It's hard not to kinda love LEGO's as it is, so having a movie that both kids and adults can enjoy is a nice prospect. Better than the prospect of stepping on the pieces in my living room, believe me. It's like John McClane vs. broken glass in there.

THE LEGO MOVIE, starring Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Morgan Freeman, Will Arnett, Cobie Smulders, Will Ferrell, Channing Tatum, Liam Neeson, Jonah Hill, Alison Brie, Nick Offerman, and Charlie Day builds into theaters on February 7, 2014.
