Melissa Leo and Bill Pullman to return for The Equalizer 2

Apparently I need to revisit THE EQUALIZER because I had completely forgotten that Melissa Leo and Bill Pullman played a part in the film as Susan and Brian Plummer, retired CIA operatives and friends of Denzel Washington's Robert McCall, with Susan having served as McCall’s handler when he was also a CIA operative. We'll soon have the chance to become reacquainted with the Plummers as Deadline reports that both Melissa Leo and Bill Pullman will be returning for the upcoming EQUALIZER sequel.

Production on THE EQUALIZER 2 is expected to get underway in Boston on September 14th, with Denzel Washington reprising his role of Robert McCall, "a former special ops agent who now helps those who can’t defend themselves." The upcoming film, which will be the first sequel of Denzel Washington's career, will be directed by Antoine Fuqua, who also directed the first installment. Prompted by the exceptional results from test screenings, Sony got the ball rolling on THE EQUALIZER sequel months before the first film was even released by tasking Richard Wenk with penning a follow-up, and although there have been some delays in development, it's clear that the studio is still pumped for more Denzel Washington mayhem.

As for what THE EQUALIZER 2 will be about, we're not sure, but it was recently announced that Pedro Pascal (KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE) was in talks to play the antagonist in the sequel. Not much is known about just who Pascal's character would be, but it's suspected that he could be the leader of another high-powered gang. Either way, you can expect the film to deliver plenty of hard-hitting action with a bad-ass Denzel Washington. I can't wait.

THE EQUALIZER 2 is set for a September 14, 2018 release.
