Oscar winner Melissa Leo (THE FIGHTER) is getting into the ring with Hugh Jackman for the revenge-thriller PRISONERS, which we last updated you on all the way back in February. Denis Villeneuve (Incendies) is directing from a script by Aaron Guzikowski (CONTRABAND).
PRISONERS concerns a small-town carpenter named Keller (Jackman) whose young daughter and best friend are kidnapped. After the cops fail to find them, Keller takes the law into his own hands, but in the process runs up against the big city detective assigned to the case.
Leo’s role is unspecified, but I would not be shocked if the actress is tasked with playing a tough-talking broad who doesn’t take shit from anyone.
Alcon Entertainment is producing PRISONERS, with production scheduled to begin early next year. A fall 2013 release is being targeted.
