Ti West's 2009 film THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL (watch it HERE) was such a hit with horror fans, it seems like we should hear about West projects more often – but just because we don't see West horror movies being announced left and right doesn't mean he's not working. He has actually been working steadily in television over the last five years, directing episodes of shows like Scream, South of Hell, Wayward Pines, Outcast, The Exorcist, and others. A few years ago, he made the Western IN A VALLEY OF VIOLENCE with Ethan Hawke and John Travolta. And now a new West horror movie finally has been announced.
West is set to write and direct a film titled X for A24 and BRON Studios. Mia Goth and Scott "Kid Cudi" Mescudi are already signed on to star in X, and Jenna Ortega – who is currently working on the new SCREAM film – is in final negotiations to join the cast.
No plot details have been revealed, but Deadline hears that X is
expected to bare similarities of West’s past films that put him on the map.
So something along the lines of THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL and/or THE INNKEEPERS (watch it HERE)? A lot of genre fans would be very happy to see that.
Jacob Jaffke, Kevin Turen, Sam Levinson, and Ashley Levinson are producing the film through their company Little Lamb Productons. Jaffke's working relationship with West goes back to THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL.
X is expected to start filming in early 2021.
