Michael Bay produced Little America takes place in a Trump-like dystopia

Donald Trump may have only assumed the office of the President of the United States less than a week ago, but there are already several Trump-influenced entertainment projects on the drawing board, the latest of which is LITTLE AMERICA, a futuristic adventure movie which Michael Bay will be producing.

THR reports that Universal Pictures have won a "heated bidding war" to snag the rights to LITTLE AMERICA. The upcoming project is being described as a "sci-fun" story rather than "sci-fi" (huh?) and takes place in a "dystopian future where a Donald Trump-like president has bankrupt America and China has called in its debts. The Asian giant now owns America and many Americans have immigrated to China looking for work." The tone is said to be inspired by John Carpenter's ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK as it centers on a former American Force Recon member who is hired by a Chinese billionaire to infiltrate an American ghetto and rescue his daughter. The spec script was written by Rowan Athale (WASTELAND), who is also attached to direct, and will be produced by Michael Bay and Platinum Dunes.

As for Michael Bay, his next project will be the fifth installment of the TRANSFORMERS franchise, TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT, which is set for a June 23, 2017 release.
