Michael Fassbender not sure if he’s still Magneto

Michael Fassbender was a guest recently on the Empire Film Podcast. While the conversation talked about many things, when the prospect of reprising his role as the badass X-Men antagonist Magneto, here's what he had to say:

I don’t know to be honest. I haven’t made any sort of decision on it because I have no idea what’s happening next with the franchise to be honest.

At least he's honest.

On the one hand, I'm going to miss Fassbender's emotional and committed take on the iconic character. On the other hand though, with the Jackman-era Wolverine ending with LOGAN, and the lackluster reception of X-MEN APOCALYPSE, this might be one of the few times a reboot could actually be good for a series. I love Singer's vision for these characters (I count X-MEN 1 and 2 as some of my favorite comic-book movies of all time), but maybe something more colorful and closer to the comics could be a nice change of pace. Also, while I love me some '90s eXXXtreme (and I might be one of the few), did we really want to revisit that era in film form (which was the rumored decade for the next X-Men sequel)?

Anyway, while there are no official plans for a proper X-sequel, there is the aforementioned LOGAN coming out March 3rd, 2017, and a NEW MUTANTS film (starring Maisie Williams from GAME OF THRONES as Wolfsbane) as well.

So what do you guys think? Would you prefer a reboot, or a proper sequel? And what would you like to see, in either case? Sound of below!
