Michael Gross: New Tremors sequel still on track for Halloween release

There hasn't been any news to report on TREMORS 7: ISLAND FURY since filming wrapped in December, but during a recent interview on the Saved by Nostalgia podcast the film's star Michael Gross, who has been playing franchise hero Burt Gummer since the first TREMORS back in 1990, gave a bit of a status update on the project.

Gross said the film is

anticipated to come out in October, around Halloween of this year. As far as I know, it's not been pushed back, since the editing process is something that doesn't necessarily need a full studio to work on. Universal is by and large shut down, all its theme parks, its movie and television production are down and out right now, but I think this post-production is still continuing."

It's good to hear that the COVID-19 pandemic probably hasn't slowed down ISLAND FURY's progress. Hopefully things will be safer and closer to normal by October and fans will be able to enjoy a Halloween viewing of the new TREMORS movie.

In the meantime, all six previous TREMORS movies can be purchased in this collection. Completists will also want to pick up the episodes of the TV series.

Directed by Don Michael Paul from a script by Brian Brightly, this sequel finds that

the deadly Graboids are back, illegally brought in to a new island resort by a rich playboy looking for a trophy hunt.

Graboids aren't the only creatures the characters will have to deal with, as the other stages of the monster's life cycle – the Shriekers and the Ass-Blasters – are part of the action as well.

Gross is joined in the cast by Richard Brake, Jon Heder, Jackie Cruz, Cassie Clare, Caroline Langrishe, Sahajak Boonthanakit, Matthew Douglas, Randy Kalsi, Bear Williams, David Asavanond, Boonma Lamphon, Aukrawut Rojaunawat, Iris Park, Mikey Black, Alex Winters, and Ron Smoorenburg.
