Michael Gross shares an image from the Tremors 6 ADR stage

As a huge fan of the TREMORS franchise, I will grasp on to any little piece of information I can get about TREMORS 6 as it makes its way toward its January release. Thankfully, star Michael Gross is a sharing kind of guy, and has posted a TREMORS 6 status update of sorts on his Facebook account.

Earlier this week, Gross shared a picture of himself with TREMORS 5 and 6 director Don Michael Paul and Universal Studios producer Share Stallings taken in the vicinity of the ADR stage, where Gross was recording lines for some post-production sound editing. Several hours later, he shared another picture – this time on the ADR stage, with assistant picture editor Maria Friesen. The most interesting about this image for TREMORS fanatics like myself? It sort of gives us our first look at a TREMORS 6 still.

Paused on the screen behind Gross is an image of Gross himself as his heroic TREMORS character, survivalist Burt Gummer. It's a shot from TREMORS 6, a glimpse at the new film… and it looks like Burt is having a pretty intense conversation in this moment. As Gross said, "I look a bit crazed, don't I? Good old Burt!"

Scripted by TREMORS 3 and 5 writer John Whelpley, TREMORS 6 has the following synopsis:

Burt Gummer (Michael Gross) and his son Travis Welker (Jamie Kennedy) find themselves up to their ears in Graboids and Ass-Blasters when they head to Canada to investigate a series of deadly giant-worm attacks. Arriving at a remote research facility in the artic tundra, Burt begins to suspect that Graboids are secretly being weaponized, but before he can prove his theory, he is sidelined by Graboid venom. With just 48 hours to live, the only hope is to create an antidote from fresh venom — but to do that, someone will have to figure out how to milk a Graboid!

Gross and Kennedy are joined in the cast by Tanya van Graan, Rob van Vuuren, Greg Kriek, and Keeno Lee Hector.

Universal will be releasing TREMORS 6 on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD on January 30, 2018. In the comments on his posts, Gross has mentioned that he has seen a trailer for the movie, so we can probably expect to see that ourselves before too long. If not sooner, I would guess that the trailer will at least be paired with another upcoming Universal horror sequel, CULT OF CHUCKY, which is being released next month.

While the finishing touches are being put on TREMORS 6, Gross's original TREMORS co-star Kevin Bacon is preparing to return to the franchise in a Syfy mini-series. Vincenzo Natali recently signed on to direct the pilot episode.
