Yes! They’re finally moving forward on the next UNIVERSAL SOLDIER movie! In an articles over at Screen Daily, we learn that the new film – to be directed by John Hyams () – has added the subtitle “A NEW DIMENSION”. That’s not all it’s added. Michael Jai White (from BLACK DYNAMITE, THE DARK KNIGHT and the upcoming MORTAL KOMBAT web series) has also come aboard; the badass joins Jean Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren on the flick, which begins shooting next month. (It should be noted that White was in 1999’s UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: THE RETURN, although I’m not sure if he’s playing the same character in A NEW DIMENSION.).
Evidently the movie is doing huge pre-sale business at EFM, sealing multiple territories. Everyone will get a chance to see this puppy when it’s released, don’t worry… (For the full list, head to Screen Daily.)
In May of last year, we heard that the flick would be in 3D, and while it’s not mentioned in the Screen Daily article, I’d have to assume that’s what this “new dimension” is… When we know more about this sucker, so will you, so stay tuned!
