Michael Keaton as a sadistic criminal? DESPERATE MEASURES, anyone?
THR has it that Keaton, along with Michelle Monaghan (below), is set to star in a new psychological thriller called PENTHOUSE NORTH. Word comes out of TIFF, which cites director Joseph Ruben (THE FORGOTTEN, SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY). as the director. Lionsgate will handle international sales for the film, which enters production in Ottawa this November.
Written by David Loughery (OBSESSED, LAKEVIEW TERRACE), the plot of PENTHOUSE NORTH centers on a photojournalist (Monaghan) haunted by a tragic event who has escaped from the world in an upscale New York penthouse. The world comes after her with a vengeance in the form of a smooth but sadistic criminal (Keaton) looking for a hidden fortune, with the woman mustering her inner strength to survive.
Not too bad, right? I mean, I’d still prefer this story to be about Keaton signing on for BEETLEJUICE 2 (if it has to be made), but a slick littler thriller with Michelle Monaghan ain’t too bad a place to be. is it?
