It’s the night HE came home. Again. Michael Myers is once again strolling the streets of Haddonfield, and we’ve got the proof in the form of that atmospheric picture above. (Naturally posted on Rob Zombie’s Myspace page.)
For whatever reason I’ve become slightly more interested in this remake that I was a couple of months ago. Then, I couldn’t care less about the cash-grab, because I maintain that Zombie’s first try at Michael Myers and his legacy is an unholy mess that borders on the unbearable (and when it’s not being unbearable it’s being just plain silly). But now I think, hey, HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES kinda sucks, but THE DEVIL’S REJECTS is actually rather enjoyable. So maybe the same will be true for his second stab (haw haw) at the Myers mythos.
I will say that if he makes the same mistakes again, I’m through with Rob Zombie The Director. He’s not a newbie anymore – if he can’t make a halfway watchable horror movie at this point, he should toss his viewfinder into the garbage forever.
