Michiel Huisman joins Mike Flanagan’s The Haunting of Hill House

As announced a couple months ago, Mike Flanagan – one of the best directors working in the horror genre today, in my opinion – will be writing, directing, and executive producing a ten episode Netflix series based on the Shirley Jackson novel The Haunting of Hill House.

Described as a "modern reimagining" of Jackson's story, the series will center on

four people living in an 80-year-old mansion.

Steven Crane, the oldest Crane sibling and a published writer of supernatural books — including a memoir about his family's time living at Hill House.

The Haunting of Hill House was previously adapted into a feature film in 1963. Titled THE HAUNTING, that film is considered by many to be one of the best horror movies ever made. A poorly received remake followed in 1999.

There wasn't a Steven Crane character in either of those films. I couldn't say whether or not such a character is mentioned in the novel.
