Mick Jagger, art, and heists collide in trailer for The Burnt Orange Heresy

Sony Pictures Classics has unveiled a trailer for THE BURNT ORANGE HERESY, an intense-looking film that explores acts of greed, deceit, and shady dealings within a corrupt art community. Directed by Giuseppe Capotondi (THE DOUBLE HOUR, BERLIN STATION) and adapted from the classic novel by Charles Willeford, THE BURNT ORANGE HERESY tells of an ambitious art dealer (Bang) hired to steal a rare painting from one of the most enigmatic painters of all time. Before long, the dealer becomes consumed by his own greed and insecurity as the operation spins out of control.

Starring in this seemingly seductive slice of cinema are Claes Bang (BBC's DRACULA, THE AFFAIR), Elizabeth Debicki (WIDOWS, THE GREAT GATSBY), Donald Sutherland (PRIDE & PREJUDICE, AD ASTRA), Rosalind Halstead (VIRGIN TERRITORY, STRANGERS), and Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger (BENT, FREEJACK). THE BURNT ORANGE HERESY arrived to positive reviews when it premiered at the Venice Film Festival last year as a way of helping to close the annual event.

While artsy dramas don't typically show up on my radar, I must admit that I'm intrigued by what I've seen from today's trailer for Capotondi's latest feature. For me, Jagger might as well be leaving a trail of slime and sulfur in his wake as he saunters about the screen. Add Bang's signature intensity and Debicki's hypnotic screen presence to the mix and you've got a formula for one very promising thriller.

THE BURNT ORANGE HERESY will arrive in theaters on March 6, 2020.
