Sometimes a movie comes along and you smack yourself in the face with the thought of ‘why didn’t I think of that???’ This usually happens when the idea is so cool – and so totally obvious – that it’s a wonder it hasn’t been done before, and that you didn’t think of it first!
Case in point is the upcoming indie flick MIDNIGHT MOVIE, which sounds too cool for school in my book. Check it: A midnight showing of an early 1970’s horror movie turns to chaos when the Killer from the movie comes out of the film to attack those in the theater.
Simple… and yet, totally effective! Executed fairly well with the action genre with LAST ACTION HERO, MIDNIGHT goes in the direction of the horror genre – taking the notion of repeating the lines ‘it’s only a movie, it’s only a movie’ while watching a scary movie in the theater right out the window – and trust me, the killer (and his weapon of choice) is f*cking badass!
Director Jack Messitt dropped by the site and informed us that the OFFICIAL MIDNIGHT MOVIE WEBSITE is now live and rocking. Besides being pimped out with a couple of trailers, there’s not a lot to work with here – but it has a good look, and the trailers.. well, they rock!
Messitt also gave us a production update: We are only 5 weeks from total completion of the film. We are just putting the finishing touches on the sound design at the Bigfoot Entertainment facilities in Cebu, Philippines as well as working with Los Angeles based Pixel Magic (300, Fantastic Four, SWAT) on our visual effects.
