Miles Teller in talks to reunite with Shailene Woodley for Adrift

Now that it seems unlikely that we'll see the conclusion of the DIVERGENT franchise with its cast intact, I suppose we'll have to look elsewhere for our Miles Teller/Shailene Woodley reunion. THR reports that such a reunion is in the cards as Miles Teller is currently in negotiations to join Shailene Woodley in ADRIFT, a survival thriller from STX Entertainment.

Set to helmed by EVEREST director Baltasar Kormakur and written by MOANA screenwriters Aaron and Jordan Kandell, ADRIFT is based on "the true story of a woman who sets off on a sailing trip to Tahiti with her fiance. But after a massive storm, the woman finds herself alone at sea with her boat in ruins." The story will shift back and forth between their efforts to survive and the couple's early courtship, as Shailene Woodley's character attempts to "save herself and the man she loves on a 1,500-mile journey to Hawaii." Should the deal close, Teller would play Woodley's fiance, which would mark their fifth film together after THE SPECTACULAR NOW and the three DIVERGENT movies.

Miles Teller has several projects on the horizon, such as Joseph Kosinski's fire-fighting drama GRANITE MOUNTAIN on September 22, 2017 and THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE, which deals with veterans fighting PTSD, on October 27, 2017. He also recently signed on to star in Nicolas Winding Refn's Amazon TV series, Too Old to Die Young, as a police officer named Martin who finds himself entangled in the world of assassins filled with working-class hit men, Yakuza soldiers, Mexican cartel assassins, Russian mafia captains and gangs of teen-aged killers. As production on ADRIFT is expected to get underway this summer, Miles Teller will tackle it before moving onto Too Old to Die Young.
