For those of you who have a fine appreciation for the MILF-aged actresses Robin Wright and Naomi Watts, ADORE may be the perfect fantasy film for you. In this age-defying drama, the two esteemed actresses play a pair of childhood friends who fall for each other’s young sons, causing the usual mix of resentment, jealousy, moral conflict, and possibly some really raunchy “your mama” jokes. Directed by French helmer Anne Fontaine (COCO BEFORE CHANEL) and is scripted by Oscar-winning screenwriter Christopher Hampton (DANGEROUS LIASONS), the film looks heavy on the steamy, tension-filled world of sexual desire and forbidden lust. Or, for some of our younger readers, the wanton desire to bang your best friend’s mom.

All in all, it looks like an engaging and provoking pic, especially with Wright and Watt’s as the objects of desire. Originally titled TWO MOTHERS and based on the novel “The Grandmothers,” I think the new title change will work out better for audiences who may be put off by the sexualization of a mom/grandma. ADORE makes it nice, simple, and inviting.
