Miller talks 300 prequel

Back in 2007 we were treated to an unexpected surprise with Zack Snyder’s 300, a hit that seemed to come in under the radar and blew us all away with its incredible visuals and relentless action. So naturally, there’s talks of another entry to the 300 universe, this time in the form of a prequel. At least, according to graphic novel creator Frank Miller.

Miller talked with the L.A. Times recently about how he’s currently prepping a 300 sequel titled XERXES, which takes place 10 years prior to the events of 300, or as Miller explains it, It’s the battle of Marathon through my lens.

XERXES, of course, is the name of the bastard seen above from 300. The story, then, would follow Xerxes on his rise to power, and feature him as the film’s ‘good guy.’ That might be hard to do since I’m pretty sure everyone hates that guy, but we shall see what Miller can do.

The prequel, however, is being conceived and developed as a graphic novel, with Miller working on the plot and the artwork, though there’s apparently some interest from Snyder about retaining XERXES as a film property as well. And really, why the hell not? I can easily see Snyder producing something like this and letting some other up and coming talent take the helm and produce something as awesome as 300.
