Mimic trilogy coming to Blu-ray in a three-film set!

Lionsgate Home Entertainment have something special lined up for all you MIMIC, MIMIC 2 and MIMIC: SENTINAL fans out there, they are going to be releasing the MIMIC: Three-Film Set on Blu-ray (order it here)!

This package contains all three films, including supplement material! The first film will contain Guilliermo Del Toro’s director’s cut and be in its 1.85:1 original aspect ratio with a 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio Track! Sounds like a pretty awesome deal, scope out the extra features for each film:

MIMIC special features:

  • * Introduction by co-writer/director Guillermo Del Toro
  • * Commentary with Guillermo Del Toro
  • Three behind-the-scenes featurettes:
  • – Reclaiming Mimic
  • – A Leap in Evolution
  • – Back into the Tunnels
  • * Deleted scenes
  • * Storyboard animatics
  • * Gag reel

MIMIC 2 special features:

  • * Two behind-the-scenes featurettes
  • * Deleted scenes

MIMIC: SENTINAL special features:

  • * Commentary with writer/director J.T. Petty
  • * Behind-the-scenes featurette
  • * Cat auditions

I think MIMIC is perhaps Del Toro’s weakest film, but it is still quite entertaining. I am looking forward to checking out the Director’s Cut and seeing how much was fixed, because there was a great sense in the regular version that it wasn’t really his vision. I am not too familiar with the sequels, but having them grouped together with bonus materials is pretty cool.

The set will hit May 1st!
