Mitch Hurwitz is editing Arrested Development season 4 into a linear story

Fans of Arrested Development who wished for a little something more when it came to Season 4 might be in luck. I would like to emphasize the word ‘might’ though and you’ll soon know why. Season 4 of AD seemed like a very different show for many viewers and understandably so considering the longer runtime made for some unnecessary scenes. Not to mention a lot of the filming was done around the actor’s schedules and who was available resulting in single character focused episodes.

It sounds like creator Mitch Hurwitz might want to right some wrongs; he told Pretentious Film Majors “Right now, I’m cutting a version of season 4 that tells it kind of chronologically and that’s like a whole different era [of the show.]” Now before you get too excited, he told Pretentious Film Majors off camera that this re-cut Season 4 might just be a way “to get the studio more interested in Season 5.”

We can take from that comment that he's at least looking at a Season 5 still, so there’s that. Last year Hurwitz said he was working on the movie too. Bottom line I think we can look forward to something Arrested Development related happening again at some point in our lives.

Would you re-watch season 4 cut in chronological order?
