The Aussie western RED HILL is a flick that has sort of popped up out of nowhere and generated a lot of buzz recently, thanks in large part to its Fantastic Fest premiere just a couple of days ago. (Perhaps also thanks to its appealing trailer, which we showed you last week.) Sony Pictures and Strand Releasing will give the flick a theatrical unveiling in the states on NOVEMBER 5th, but until then, we’ll just have to wait and listen to everyone who has already seen it crow about how cool it is. (Like The Arrow, who will be giving us a review soon.)
In any event, it turns out that RED HILL isn’t the only location director Patrick Hughes plans on visiting. In an interview with Film School Rejects, Hughes revealed that a “revenge trilogy” is tentatively in the works. According to the site, the planned follow-ups are titled BLACK VALLEY, about a Mexican border-town, and WHITE MOUNTAIN, which would “take place in the Rocky Mountains (or thereabouts) during winter”. Interesting, as it appears as though this will be more of a thematic trilogy than anything else; a connection outside of the lust for revenge remains to be seen.
We’ll let you know more about the proposed trilogy when we hear it; for now, keep an eye out for RED HILL, which stars Ryan Kwanten, Steve Bisley, Tom E. Lewis and Claire Van Der Boom.
