Terrific character actor Alfred Molina has signed on to star alongside Nicolas Cage, Jay Baruchel and Teresa Palmer in Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer’s upcoming fantasy epic THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE. The story centers on a college student (Baruchel) who’s recruited by sorcerer Balthazar Blake (Cage) to learn magic in order to battle evil forces in modern day Manhattan. Palmer will play Baruchel’s love interest because of course a blond goddess like Palmer would be interested in a nerdy Baruchel and Molina will play the villain Horvath. The film and it’s Brucks-worthy explosions will start filming this month in New York. Molina was inexplicably most recently in the PINK PANTHER 2 and can next be seen alongside a beefcake Jake Gyllenhaal in another Brucks joint, PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME.
