Monica Barbaro joins Arnold Schwarzenegger for Skydance TV series

After starring alongside Tom Cruise for Paramount Pictures' highly-anticipated sequel TOP GUN: MAVERICK, actress Monica Barbaro is set to join another iconic action star, Arnold Schwarzenegger, for Skydance's upcoming global spy adventure series.

Created by Nick Santora (Jack Reacher, The Fugitive, Most Dangerous Game), the upcoming show being developed at Skydance Television revolves around a father-daughter duo and plenty of spy-related shenanigans. Barbaro was courted for the role shortly after starring as Phoenix, the sole female fighter pilot, in the upcoming Top Gun sequel.

Santora is developing and executive producing the untitled series in accordance with his overall deal with Skydance Television. Schwarzenegger will also executive produce alongside Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Bill Bost. Meanwhile, Carolyn Harris will oversee the series.

In addition to starring in a number of short films, Barbaro's first major role found her playing the villainess Yael for the Lifetime series UnREAL. After making her mark on the small screen, she went on to star in shows like Chicago Justice, Chicago P.D., The Good Cop, Splitting Up Together, and most recently, the canceled-far-too-soon Stumptown.

Details surrounding Santora's spy-centric series are scarce at this time, though now that Barbaro has been cast, things are bound to heat up. Be sure to check back for more updates and the show continues to take shape.
