Monica Bellucci to star in Wyrmwood creators’ Nekromancer

Although I've heard a lot of good things about the Australian zombie thriller WYRMWOOD and have been meaning to check it out, I just haven't found the time to do so yet. The movie definitely went over well with Arrow in the Head's own Jake Dee, who gave it an 8/10 review and included a moment from it on his list of the "Top 10 Holy Sh!t Moments of 2015".

Kiah and Tristan Roache-Turner, the sibling creative team behind WYRMWOOD, are now gearing up for their next feature, a sci-fi horror project called NEKROMANCER, which will go into production in Sydney later this year. While there isn't a plot synopsis for the project, it does promise to deliver a mixture of gore and comedy.

We may not know anything about the story, but we do know the names of three cast members: Monica Bellucci, Ben O'Toole, and Tess Haubrich have all signed on to star in NEKROMANCER.

Among Bellucci's dozens of acting credits are BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF, IRREVERSIBLE, and the MATRIX sequels. She also became a Bond girl with 2015's SPECTRE, and worked with Mel Gibson on THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST. O'Toole worked with Gibsob on HACKSAW RIDGE. Haubrich has not worked with Gibson, but she did earn a genre credit with a role in ALIEN: COVENANT.

NEKROMANCER is being financed by eOne, Screen Australia, and Create NSW.
