Mr. Monk’s Last Case trailer: Tony Shalhoub returns as the fastidious Adrian Monk to solve one final crime

The lovable detective with obsessive-compulsive disorder, Adrian Monk, is back! Several years, a pandemic, and more have passed, but Tony Shalhoub is returning to a fan-favorite character to solve a crime that brings Mr. Monk’s stepdaughter, Molly, into the fold! Peacock’s Mr Monk’s Final Case: A Monk Movie trailer reunites classic characters from the original series, including Ted Levine, Jason Gray-Stanford, Traylor Howard, Melora Hardin, and Hector Elizondo.

It’s been 14 years since the world has seen a fresh installment of Monk. The new film acknowledges the intervening years and how the world has changed in alarming ways. “We’re so delighted to have made a movie version of MONK, and we are thrilled that every one of our stars were so enthusiastic about coming back,” says a note from Andy Breckman (Creator/Writer/EP), David Hoberman (EP), and Randy Zisk (Director/EP). “But in coming back, we wanted to do a film that was worthy of our legacy. Mr. Monk’s Last Case is a story that is powerful, emotional, funny, heartwarming and has something to say about the human condition. And it will be both familiar and surprising.”

In Peacock’s Mr. Monk’s Last Case trailer, Adrian Monk and his crime-solving compatriots join the former homicide detective on a mission involving his beloved stepdaughter, Molly, a journalist preparing for her wedding. With murder on the menu, Mr. Monk must navigate a post-Covid world where the general public now shares his fear of germs and interacting with the unknown. Coming out of retirement is always challenging. Thankfully, Adrian Monk won’t do it alone.

Monk is the USA series that follows Adrian Monk (Shalhoub), a brilliant former San Francisco detective who aids the police as a private consultant who battles with an obsessive-compulsive disorder. Traylor Howard, Jason Gray-Stanford, Ted Levine, Stanley Kamel, and Bitty Schram featured alongside Shalhoub in the original series. Monk lasted for eight seasons, totaling 125 episodes.

In addition to being one of the most-watched scripted dramas on television, Monk produced nineteen novels by writers Lee Goldberg and Hy Conrad. The hit series also generated a ten-episode prequel web series called Little Monk. The Monk revival film is not the first time the detective confronted COVID-19. In 2020, Shalhoub and other cast members starred in Mr. Monk Shelters in Place, a short designed for Peacock Presents At-Home Variety Show.
