Monsters HD has been rocking the DishNetwork since October of 2003, providing an outlet for horror fans to check out their favorite flicks in High Def, uncut and unaltered, on cable television. Today, via the Monsters HD Official Site, that Monsters HD will no longer be on the air… the channel is now offically dead.
Here’s the eulogy: TV’s first and longest-running hi-def horror and creature feature channel will cease operations and mad experiments this month. Thanks for all the screams and support over the years. Fear not – monsters never die…they always come back! Pleasant dreams, friends.
Just about brings a tear to your eyes, doesn’t it? It’s quite the bummer of news, and to come out just when horror seems to be burning red hot again. However, not being a DishNetworks customer, I’m not one of the people who will be hurting most about this–it’s the folks that pay good money for the cable channels. Where’s the variety? Where’s the horror love? If I were a customer, I’d be raving mad and tell DishNetworks directly… you never know, enough complaints may bring the channel back from the dead.
So have a drink with me as we toast the final two weeks of Monsters HD… you shall be missed.
