Monstrous: Christina Ricci featured in first images from supernatural thriller

Earlier this year, we heard that Christina Ricci (who will soon be seen in the survival drama TV series Yellowjackets) was teaming up with I Know Who Killed Me (watch it HERE) director Chris Sivertson for a supernatural thriller called Monstrous. Screen Daily reports the movie will soon be screening at a film market for the first time (at the American Film Market, to be exact) and to mark the occasion Screen Media Ventures and Film Mode Entertainment have unveiled an image of Ricci as her Monstrous character. You can check that image out below, along with one that teases the “terrifying monster” we’ll be seeing in the movie.

Written by Carol Chrest (The Prophet’s Game), Monstrous finds Ricci in the role of

a traumatized woman fleeing from her abusive ex-husband with her 7-year-old son. In their new, remote sanctuary they find they have a bigger, more terrifying monster to deal with.

Ricci is joined in the cast by Colleen Camp (Die Hard with a Vengeance). According to the IMDb page, Santino Barnard (Penny Dreadful: City of Angels), Don Baldaramos (Suburbicon), Lew Temple (The Devil’s Rejects), and Carol Anne Watts (Obsessed with the Babysitter) are also in the line-up.

Screen Media has already picked up the distribution rights to the film outside North America, the U.K., Japan, and the Middle East, while High Octane has acquired the rights in the Middle East, North Africa, and Japan.

Sivertson said,

Carol Chrest created an iconic genre character who Christina Ricci brings to life in a mesmerizing and deeply emotional performance.”

Monstrous is produced by Robert Yocum, Sasha Yelaun, B.I. Rosen, and Johnny Remo, while Sivertson serves as executive producer alongside Adam Goldworm, Omer Paracha, Sean Reilly, Clay Epstein, Craig Albrecht, Carol Anne Watts, Adam Sigal, Galen Christy, and Mark Silba.

Here are the promotional images, which leave me very curious to see how Ricci’s character is going to fare against this monster:
