Regardless of my own lack of interest, I’m bringing you the news that United Artists just sealed GALACTICA mastermind Ronald D. Moore (right) to a 3 picture deal.
The report comes from Variety and states the 3 pictures Moore has signed on to write will actually be an original sci-fi trilogy. Now, even though I’ve never seen anything BATTLESTAR (aside from the lovely Grace Park below), this news intrigues me. A whole sci-fi trilogy from a dude who obviously knows what he’s dealing with? I’m game.
Along with co-creating, writing, and executive producing BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, Moore also has writing credits in TV shows STAR TREK: GENERATIONS, STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION, ROSWELL, CARNIVALE and films MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 2 and the upcoming THE THING.
United Artists CEO Paula Wagner, who worked with Moore when she was producing MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 2 alongside Tom Cruise, had the following to say about the sci-fi writer:
“Over the last decade, Ron has emerged as the foremost sci-fi, fantasy creator, writer in the industry and working with him to bring his creative talents to the big screen is a great partnership for our studio.”
Good deal. No word yet on what this trilogy will deal with other than the fact that it will fall under the Science Fiction genre. As always, we’ll keep you updated.
