Earlier this week we told you about the potential additions of Eli Roth and BJ Novak. Well now we’re getting word from The Hollywood Reporter that 3 others are currently in talks to join the Nazi killfest.
Tarantino is set to meet with Nastassja Kinski (below) for the role of a legendary German actress, Simon Pegg (above) is in talks to be a British lieutenant, and David Krumholtz might be one fo the titular Bastards, but seems to have a scheduling conflict.
According to Variety Tarantino regular Tim Roth was also up for a role, but also has a scheduling conflict thanks to his TV show LIE TO ME. And Movieweb are talking about this interesting rumor that has none other than Corey Feldman being offered a role as one of the Bastards.
So as you can see… this is some twisted casting… but I love it! These guys are all unbelievably talented, so putting them behind a director like Tarantino would be gold! I’m stoked Pitt is signed and excited at the prospect of Pegg, though I’m not sure how big his role will be. I’m also digging the fact that Tarantino is going with actors from said nationalities for his roles, like Pegg as an Englishman, Pitt as an American, and Kinski as a German. Right now Tarantino is hard at work looking for a German actor to play the main villain in the film. There’s a major role of a young Jewish woman that should be cast any day as well.
Production is set to start October 13 in Germany hoping to be done in time for Cannes 2009. Producer Lawrence Bender is currently scouting locations and had the following to say in regards to the pairing of Pitt/Tarantino and the production schedule:
“They’re going to push each other and really help make something special…. It’s going to be a nine-month sprint marathon.”
So as you can see… this cast is really shaping up. We’ll drop word once we hear more, which will probably be sooner rather than later.
