Fuller told Fango a few juicy tidbits, and shed a tiny bit more light on what they’re actually planning to do with this latest installment. One thing’s for sure- it’s not a sequel to JASON X, and it doesn’t take place after FREDDY VS JASON. Here’s more of what Fuller had to say:
Jason didn’t really start killing until FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2, so this isn’t a remake of the first one—Jason’s definitely going to be killing people in our movie. He didn’t wear the hockey mask until the third film, and our Jason is definitely going to wear the mask—so this is how we’re going about it right now.
It feels to me like it’s going to be a re-imagining of… I don’t know if there is a term for it…it’s going to be like what we did with THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, that’s the best analogy I have.
For me, I thought they did a damn good job with the TCM remake- it scared the shit outta me, and was overall awesome. If they can somehow do that with the new FRIDAY, I’d be stoked. The thing is, FRIDAY is a different movie from TCM- it has a different feel and everything.
Also to note, while they’d like to have the flick ready October 13th, 2006- they realize, as it’s February with no director or script or anything, that that’s not a realistic plan. So at least they’re not TOO crazy. For more of this interesting read, go ahead and click HERE.
