I told you all about some casting for JOY RIDE: END OF THE ROAD a couple weeks ago, and now we all can’t help but wonder how this one is going to turn out. It’s got some promise, regardless of the all new cast. The original starred Paul Walker, Steve Zahn, and Leelee Sobieski and was a pretty sweet flick. It did no wrong in my eyes, a pretty damn suspenseful flick all the way through.
The sequel centers on the same villan, maniac truck driver Rusty Nail. JOY RIDE: END OF THE ROAD is about a group of kids who break down on the highway and resort to stealing a car belonging to a psychopathic truck driver named Rusty Nail. Simple, to the point, promising. I’m down. The cast includes Nick Zano, Nicki Aycox, Laura Jordan, Kyle Schmid, and Mark Gibbon as Rusty Nail. It’s directed by Louis Morneau and written by James Robert Johnston and Bennett Yellin.
STYD is reporting that if this one sees some good sales upon it’s release, it could spark a whole franchise based on Rusty Nail and his crazy antics. Hell, I can even picture it as an 80s-like comedy sitcom… but maybe that’s just me. Seriously though, if done right, a JOY RIDE franchise might not be half bad. It all banks on how well this second one is. If they can nail the suspense of the first one, in addition to the likes of hotties like Nicki Aycox (below) and Laura Jordan, I can see this one doing pretty well. The flick is slated for release sometime in 2008, so we’ll have to wait a while to find out if we’ll be seeing Rusty Nail again for part 3.
