More Lovecraftian thrills heading our way in The Black Goat?!

Truth be told I’ve never been a big fan of H.P. Lovecraft. Sure his stuff has never really caught my attention… but I’m not against it either. I’d be down for checking some of it out in the future. Especially this BLACK GOAT business. … Hang on, let me catch you guys up.

You see Joseph Nanni has already gone and put together an epic little short film called BLACK GOAT, which involves Shub-Niggurath, or “The Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young”, who is a little-mentioned deity from the Cthulhu Mythos of H.P. Lovecraft. See where I’m going with this? According to the guys over at Undead Backbrain Nanni is even planning on making this shite into a feature! Check out what the filmmaker had to say:

“We’re currently in development and have a rather major distributor working with us. We haven’t talked cast yet, although Adam Wilson is locked in to play the lead. Production design has started, but I still may reach out to some Lovecraft luminaries for concept design.”

Sounds good to me! Here’s the rundown for Nanni’s short film BLACK GOAT: Jacques Cowan is what the French call “a runner of the woods.” He may be a foreigner in the new world but Jacques quickly learned the ways of the native people, their language, their routes, and their skills. But he didn’t leave his life in another land for adventure, freedom, and wealth — he had much more in mind than trading pelts and cheating death. Jacques had listened intently to the stories that had crossed the ocean, extraordinary tales of mystical creatures and unknown forces. Black Goat finds Jacques mid-hunt, as he closes in on what others thought was a legend. What he doesn’t realize is that the legend is on a hunt of its own.

You can go ahead and take a look at BLACK GOAT for yourself by scrolling on down below or tapping it over in our videos section.

If you’re worried that this feature version of the tale will differ from Nanni’s short film then you can rest easy. As Nanni mentioned BLACK GOAT star Adam Wilson is already on board the feature film along with Lovecraft artist Dave Carson. That’s actually a shot Carson did of Shub-Niggurath below. Nanni says Carson will be “helping us realize some Elder God nastiness for the upcoming feature Black Goat.”

So there you have it folks! BLACK GOAT sound like something you might be interested in? Spit some bullets below and let us know! Be sure to keep it here for anything and everything Lovecraft that comes our way.
