Well today, Horror Asylum dropped us a line to tell us they received more info on the musical, which possesses broadway (well actually, off-broadway) October 2. While it premieres October 2 at New World Stages, the official opening is on November 1 at 7:00 PM. The concept of turning one of horror’s classics into a musical began its genesis in Toronto, Canada, where early workshops were packed. The musical enjoyed two sold-out runs at the Tranzac Club before embarking to Montreal, where the musical opened on July 2, 2004 at the Cabaret du Plateau, ironically as part of the 22nd Just For Laughs Festival.
Directed by Christopher Bond and three-time Tony Award-winner Hinton Battle, EVIL DEAD: The Musical includes book and lyrics by George Reinblatt, music by Frank Cipolla, Christopher Bond, Melissa Morris and George Reinblatt with music supervision by Frank Cipolla and choreography by Hinton Battle. As stated, the musical begins playing October 2 and will play as follows: Monday through Thursday at 8:00 PM, Friday at 7:30 PM, Saturday at 7:00 PM with special late night performances Friday & Saturday at 11:00 PM.
