More NOTLD:O cast

Bloody Disgusting sat down for a chat with NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD: ORIGINS director Zebidiah de Soto for a few words, and the director revealed a few interesting things about his project.

In addition to Danielle Harris (whose casting we broke here a couple weeks ago), de Soto has added Joe Pilato (who played the crazy “Rhodes” in DAY OF THE DEAD), Mike Diskint, and Alona Tal to play Harry Cooper, Tom, and Helen Cooper, respectively.

de Soto also reveals that the film will take place in the present day, yet tell the story of how Barbara, Ben, and the others find themselves in their plight at the farmhouse; the film will indeed be animated ala AVATAR or BEOWULF, and in 3D. “…the movie will be portrayed by 3D animated characters and environments and be viewable in 3D,” de Soto tells B-D. “Meaning you can go to a theater, put on some polarized glasses and see the movie jump off the screen.”

I really don’t know how I feel about this. On the one hand, yes, it sounds promising. On the other, why do we need this? Why does it have to be NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, and why does it have to be made in this style? I’m not writing it off, just putting my immediate questions out there… I’m still not sold on motion-capture or 3D, so that’s why I’m dubious.
