More on DLB’s Abattoir

Earlier this week I hit you all with the news that MOTHER’S DAY isn’t the only franchise Darren Lynn Bousman is trying to get going. He’s also working on ABATTOIR. In case you missed it allow me to refresh your memory.

ABATTOIR is about a real estate agent assigned to clean up the remnants of a massacre that took place in a mansion he hopes to sell is visited by a twisted old man who draws the agent into a web of shadows, murders and massacres. There wasn’t much more known at that point… but today changes that! Above you’ll find the cover for the ABATTOIR graphic novel that Bousman and Radical are working on to tie into the potential franchise. Now that definitely gives us an idea of what we can expect with ABATTOIR! And I’m loving it!

I don’t even need to know much more. That shot above has me intrigued enough to follow along as things progress… and I’m not even a big Bousman fan! But if that’s not enough to wet your tastebuds the guys over at Bloody-Disgusting caught up with Bousman at Comic Con and asked him what the deal was with this new movie. He touched on a number of things regarding ABATTOIR including where he got the idea, why there’s going to be a graphic novel and the whole thing behind ABATTOIR potentially becoming a new franchise. Here’s a hint of the convo:

“My writing partner, Michael Peterson, and I wanted to do a haunted house movie. But it NEEDED to be completely unique and different. Haunted House movies have been around since, well… FOREVER. So, we kept trying to figure out ways into the story that we have never seen. One day we broke the idea. We were both flipping out, and loved the approach we were taking.”

To read what else Bousman had to say you can head right over HERE and be sure to keep it here for all ABATTOIR and other Darren Lynn Bousman updates as we hear them!
